This Half Term...

This term our topic is The Vikings and in Literacy we are also looking at Viking myths. We are also revisiting The Quest with children writing their stories using the same structure but with different settings and characters. We are also writing instructions about how to make a Viking Longship.

In Art the children are taking photographs around school of designs and patterns in nature. In Design and Technology we are bridge building using newspapers. Children will continue to develop their hockey skills and then will go on to gymnastics.

In ICT children will be using Word, Publisher and PowerPoint to record facts about The Vikings. In Music we are learning to sing carols and songs in preparation for our carol concert later in the term.

Leave a comment and tell us about any facts that you already know or have found out about The Vikings!

  1. In 793AD the vikings invaded Lindesfarne and 3 years later they killed the monks on Iona. 'Viking' is an old Norse word meaning 'sea raiders'.

They were fierce and ferocious. They travelled in longboats and even discovered America before Christopher Columbus!
