This Half Term...

This term our topic is The Vikings and in Literacy we are also looking at Viking myths. We are also revisiting The Quest with children writing their stories using the same structure but with different settings and characters. We are also writing instructions about how to make a Viking Longship.

In Art the children are taking photographs around school of designs and patterns in nature. In Design and Technology we are bridge building using newspapers. Children will continue to develop their hockey skills and then will go on to gymnastics.

In ICT children will be using Word, Publisher and PowerPoint to record facts about The Vikings. In Music we are learning to sing carols and songs in preparation for our carol concert later in the term.

Leave a comment and tell us about any facts that you already know or have found out about The Vikings!

Charlie and her Olympic Torch

It was very exciting to meet Charlie Murgatroyd who visited school and brought her Olympic Torch. As a school, we raised over £200 for dreamfights to help send seriously ill children to Disneyland, Florida for a holiday of a lifetime.

Botanical Gardens

We had a great day out at The Botanical Gardens.  Everyone enjoyed searching for minibeasts and pond dipping, as well as exploring the desert, Mediterranean, woodland and rain forest habitats.  Looking at some of the sculptures in the gardens made it even more enjoyable.  Here are some pictures of what we saw!

Wanted! Dead or Alive!

Our homework last week was to design a wanted poster for the wolf who caused Red Riding Hood and Grandma so many problems!

Here are three examples by Charlie J, Reece and Freya!

Little Red Riding Hood

This week in literacy we have been reading different versions of Little Red Riding Hood!

The children were even visited by a Detective Chief Inspector and became Detectives themselves as part of an investigation. As well as this there was a surprise visit from 'Red' herself! The children then took the opportunity to question her about the unusual events of the fateful day when a naughty wolf caused havoc in Grandma's house!

What did you find out when you questioned Little Red Riding Hood?

Welcome to our class blog!!
